Please share with us a little bit about yourself.
I feel a profound gratefulness about myself, that there has always been a genuine interest in people and what is going on for them…from their perspective. I don’t know what life would be like without that curiosity which has led me into the ‘work’ that I offer. Being interested and willing to hear people and to support them to find their way with whatever it is that is going on, has kept my life very interesting, rich, varied and fulfilled.

When did you begin your writing?

I suppose I really started writing when I left the home where I lived with my parents to go traveling. I started writing letters to keep in touch with others, then that gradually morphed into letters sort of to myself…a private space where I could spill myself out onto the page to have another perspective on whatever was happening in my life at the time. Then it officially turned into ‘journaling’ when I began taking workshops on understanding and healing myself. The writing evolved into straight streaming, which enjoyed so much. Then I took a workshop on writing and the leader said to me: “You do know that you are a gifted and talented writer, don’t you?” I hadn’t ever heard that before and it supported me to become even more grounded in the writing.

How long did it take you to write your book(s)?

This current book, ‘Right Here, Right Now Meditations’ is made up primarily of Satsang Invitations that I started to write and send out in 2008. After awhile of sending them out, people started to suggest that they be made into a book. I had no idea how to do that, so I asked the Universe to show me how. I met Julie Salisbury, my publisher, in September 2010 and the book was worked on directly as a book starting in October 2010 and was officially released on June 1st 2011.

What is your greatest joy in writing?

I love that the words seem to just spill out of my fingertips onto the computer screen, or out of the pen onto paper, if writing in that way. It somehow feels like dancing while it is happening and there is wonder when I read through what comes out. I have a similar feeling with art work, like the illustrations in the book – I just held the idea of the chapter in the mind and the symbolic line drawing just appeared before me, then my hands drew it. It delights me!

What is your biggest struggle with writing?

When there is an idea that something ‘has to’ be done rather than the allowing for the words to spill through. When that happens, I know to back off and not demand of myself. To give myself a break, then return later. So far, so good with meeting any end lines. (I prefer to use the term: end lines instead of deadlines J )

Some writers have a preferred writing schedule. Do you?
There is a tendency to enjoy working in the morning while I drink my coffee.

What tips would you offer beginning writers to help them?

Breathe!! Long, deep, breathes, start the writing without making any sense, then let the ideas come. Stay in touch with your heart as much as you can…everything that the mind already knows will come through in the speaking of the heart and that is not always the case of writing from the mind.

What is the message of your book?

The main message of Right Here, Right Now Meditations is that the ‘Now’ is available within the regular details of living and that you, as a human being, with all of your perfections and imperfections are beautiful and a miracle to behold. This book celebrates that and gives you the steps to recognize it, feel it, and the side effect is more presence and expansion.

Why did you choose to write this book?

People asked me to so I took them up on the invitation. Also, it seemed that it might support more people all at once than who I might ever meet in person.

And how did you decide to publish this book?

The universe answered my request to show me how to create a book by introducing me to Julie Salisbury. After taking her ‘Inspire A Book’ workshop, I decided to join the circle of authors and ended up writing a proposal. I was then offered a contract – which I signed – and here I am with a book beside me on the table!

Who is your book geared towards?
Anyone who would like to bring more peace, ease, well-being, enjoyment and abundance into their lives. Also for anyone who is interested in waking up to the moment – to that which is real and everlasting.

Do you incorporate blogging into your marketing for your writing and/or your book?

Yes, I have just started a blog – Right Here, Right Now Blog. I am just learning how to incorporate it.

How long have you been blogging?
Almost one month.

Do you incorporate social media (twitter, facebook, linkedin) for your writing and/or book?

Yes, I am on twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, and utube.

When it comes to social media— do you prefer one platform over the others?( facebook, twitter or linked in) Why?
When I look at this question, I realize that I tend to use facebook and twitter more. Facebook because I have been there longer and know a bit more about how it all works, and twitter because of its ease. I have only been on twitter for three weeks so I am still learning what is all available there.

What is one social media tip you have to share with others?

It looks like a bigger leap to get started than it is. Just go step by step.

Where can people purchase your book?

At www.spiritualauthorscircle.com, www.amazon.ca, www.amazon.com and www.amazon.co.uk

What else is in the works for you for 2011?

I am just heading off to Europe to offer Satsang Meditation with Canela in London and in Germany. I also have two other speaking engagements in London as well as an interview with an internet TV station on July 12, 2011. And a five day stay in Paris too! J

After that, it looks like I will be headed over to Alberta to participate in the Body Mind Spirit Expo in late September.

I am also scheduled to be one of the speakers at ‘The Gathering’ an amazing gathering of Awakened People, that is being touted as a Spiritual Woodstock. Check that out at: http://zoxon.com/ref/10770

How can others contact you?

People are very welcome to contact me through my website: www.canelamichelle.com

There they can find where I am offering Satsang Mediation as well as arrange for Individual Satsang Sessions by phone if they wish to explore that.
